College of Education, Open, Distance and E-Learning, 2018-02) Dauda, Adamu GarbaThe Study examined Parents Involvement and Pupils academic Performance in Selected Nursery Schools of Argungu local Government Area , Kebbi State , North Western Nigeria. The study was guided by three objectives(1): to investigate parents involvement(2) to determine pupils academic performance; and(3) to establish the relationship between parents involvement and pupil’s academic performance. The study employed descriptive correlation design. Questionnaires were used to gather data from 194 respondents who were teachers of the nursery schools. Frequency, percentage, mean, and Pearson’s Linear Correlation Coefficient were used to analyze the data. The findings indicated that majority of the respondents are in the age range of 31-40 (35 %) males dominated the females (55% and 45%). Majority of the teachers are Teacher Grade II and Senior Secondary Certificate holders (93%). The teaching experience of the respondents was dominated by the range of 7 years and above. The findings shows that Parental involvement in nursery school activities was low ( overall calculated mean =2.24). The pupils academic performance was also low (calculated mean =17.5). The parental involvement and pupils academic performance are significantly correlated (r=0.14=0.000).It is concluded that Parental involvement influences Pupils academic performance. It is recommended that teachers and school heads/ managers should give parents an opportunity to be involved in their children’s education. Teachers should provide the pupils with home work and other activities to improve their performance. Parents should also assist their children in doing the home work and other school activities assigned to them. Schools must emphasize to Parents that their involvement in the school is vital to their children’s development and performance.
