    The minds-on hearts-on hands-on learning engagements.
    (GRIN Verlag, 2016) Sumil, Novembrieta
Decisive components in the teaching-learning process are the educators and the learners. The Minds-on*Hearts-on*Hands-on Engagements in three types namely: the cognitive, affective, behavior and motor engagements are featured and emphasized to manage a supportive research and educational sphere. Research and academic courses can better be appreciated if they co-exist with learner-centered philosophies of creative pedagogy, andragogy and heutagogy accentuated through globally accepted and implemented innovative techniques such as game-based, gamification, hybrid, immersive and adaptive learning mechanisms. Teaching is not about being fully engaged in talking as the traditional authoritarianism projects but it is about being creative in selecting options that should work for the learners’ benefits thus leading these learners to be innovative, self-directed and self-determined to acquire knowledge attitude and skills.

Innovative teaching-learning at postgraduate level: An advocacy, a creative pedagogy package from actual experience and experimentation
    (GRIN Verlag, 2015) Sumil, Novembrieta
Each educator has his/her strengths and preferences when managing a classroom scenario. Ideally, an effective educator should possess a variety of teaching techniques to accommodate students’ learning needs. There may not be one single best approach to teaching as there is more need for flexible teaching approaches. The prevailing scenario in the educational arena nowadays is where the teacher is no longer an authoritative figure in the students’ learning but rather an enabler. Organizing a course into meaningful bits of activities, situations and experiences will be better absorbed and lasts indefinitely in every learner’s academic life. Further, in this context, the course is taught better and the students learn more if the students themselves are involved in their learning. Innovative teaching-learning addresses the challenge of a paradigm shift from the traditional and conservative ways towards creating an educational climate for the learners to take more responsibility of their own learning in an academic environment where they find more meaning. Creative pedagogy is innovative art of teaching categorized as theatre based that greatly involves the student in his learning to develop him into a self-reliant, responsible, critically minded and creative character or actor in the theatre of learning. At the forefront are approaches that provide learning materials, situations, activities and experiences to enable the learners to acquire knowledge, attitude, values, habits, skills in critical thinking, decision-making, self-direction, self-reliance, mechanical manipulation and bodily movement. Structure and composition of benthic macroinvertebrates of a tropical forest stream, River Nyamweru, western Uganda
(2001) Tumwesigye, Charles; Kizito, Yusuf S.; Makanga, Boniface
Enthic invertebrates from River Nyamweru, a tropical forest stream in western Uganda were sampled bimonthly between April and December 1997 using a modified Hess Sampler. A total of 3708 benthic fauna from thirteen taxonomic orders were collected. Benthic samples were dominated by Diptera (mainly Chironomidae) representing over 60% of all the organisms, followed by Ephemeroptera. Benthic invertebrate densities ranged from 63 ± 9.03 organisms/m2 to 300 ± 33.36 organisms/m2, with higher densities occurring during the dry season and lower densities during the wet season. The benthic community structure in River Nyamweru reflected mainly collectors and scrapers as the most important groups (83%), while predators were very rare (3.1%). River discharge influenced benthic abundance, with more invertebrates at lower discharge and fewer invertebrates at higher discharge. The applicability of the River Continuum Concept to tropical forest stream situation is discussed.

Primum homo esto [let him first be a man] through parenting: an immortal legacy; implications to parents and teachers
(Jubzy Copy Print, Cebu City Philippines, 2014) Sumil, Novembrieta; Sumil, Manuel O.; Sumil, Manuel Paul; Sumil, Manuel Ray; Sumil, Manuel Chris
The character of a nation’s citizens is determined by how the parents raise and civilize their children. The child then needs a parent in a home where he can be told what is right and what is wrong, what works and what does not in a world of natural and man- made crisis and advanced technology. Parenting is child rearing. This book emphasizes raising the child at home with care, love and empathy towards being a responsible, well adjusted and well behaved member of society.
