    Blended Teaching and Workload Management in Primary Schools Kalagala Subcounty Luwero District Uganda

    The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of Blended learning and workload management in Primary schools of Kalagala Sub county, the objectives were to examine the levels of blended learning on work lard management in primary schools of Kalagala sub county, to find out the nature work lord management in primary schools Kalagala sub county and to examine the relationship between Blended learning and work lord management in Primary schools Kalagala sub county The study was guided by Guilickman 2020 model of blended learning in Primary schools. The study adopted an exploratory research design. The target population was 553 respondents in secondary schools; composed of 65 head teachers, 65 deputy head teachers, 65 directors and 310 classroom teachers. The researcher took a sample size of 30% of target population in consideration adequate from researcher duration. Data was collected using questionnaires for teachers and interview schedule for principals. Prior to the actual data collection procedures, a piloting study was also conducted in 10% of the target population to test the reliability and validity of the instruments. The research methodology used was mixed methodology Quantitative data was analyzed using Pearson Correlation Coefficient with the help of SPSS computer programme. Qualitative data was analyzed using descriptive statistics such as frequency, counts and percentages and presented thematically in line with the objectives. The study found out that Blended learning programs in Kalagala sub county primary schools is moderate as also respondents also did not agree that nature of work lord management depends on teachers‟ availability but not distributed equally. It also found out that the teachers are not well vest with computer knowledge which makes online learning difficult in Kalagala Sub county Primary schools. Also found moderate response that very few lessons teachers‟ miss during face to face learning. The study recommended that important for supervisors to make sure that all schools create work lord management programs that will help schools to crate ways for teachers to improve on their individual teacher training blended teaching and learning in Primary schools more especially Kalagala sub county.

    Teacher based evaluation process and learners’ progress in primary schools Kibuku district Uganda

    The purpose of the study was to examine the influence of Teacher Based Evaluation Practices on learners progress in primary schools Kibuku District. The study was guided the following objectives namely; To analyze the school based examination supervision process on learner’s progress in primary schools Kibuku District, To examine the school based setting of examination process on learner’s progress in primary schools Kibuku District and To establish school based grading process of learners on learners progress in primary schools Kibuku District. The study used mixed methodology which consists of qualitative & quantitative data (Creswell 2014). This approach to research is used. This integration provides a better understanding of the research problem than either of each alone. Quantitative data included close ended information such as that found to measure attitudes like ratings, scales, behaviours, observation, checklists and performance instruments. The researcher used survey research design in the study. Design is a method of collecting information by interviewing or administering a questionnaire to sample of individuals. It also collects information about people’s attitudes, opinions, habits or any of the variety of education or social issues (Orodho, 2009). The target population for the study was 586 population in primary schools; composed of 45 school heads, 38 deputies 367 pupils and 136 teachers. The finding show that there was classroom control strategies such as control movements in the classroom, roll calling to ensure attendance, strictness on arrival in class and acquiring permission before leaving the classroom. However weakness was observed in providing copy of school rules and regulations, ensuring class activities were done, worse school uniforms or provided counseling by teachers to their Learners. From the findings, role modeling strategies were implemented through adequate preparation and delivery of lessons and meeting periodically with Learners. However teachers failed to lead by example in many areas like dressing smartly, attending lessons in time and respect of Learners by listening to their concerns. Therefore this strategy was weakly implemented in the schools by the teachers. It is recommended that more emphasis is placed on helping teachers to become role models to their Learners. The teachers should dress up neatly and by conduct and discipline show Learners by their living. Head teachers should help their teachers in understanding that Teacher Based Evaluation Practices is key for success and therefore set aside budget for trainings as well as facilitations for good practices.

    Internal supervision and learners discipline in primary schools Sironko district Uganda

    The study was mainly qualitative and employed the observational research approaches to gather data from head teachers and teachers and primary six learners which mainly focused on the experiences of people involved, and attempt to understand the reasons behind certain behavior description (Nkwi & Amp; Ryan 2001). The research was guided mainly by three objectives namely; To assess the levels of school training program on learners individual discipline in primary schools in Sironko district, To examine the school guidance programs on learners individual discipline in primary schools in Sironko district and To establish the material resources on learners individual discipline in primary schools Sironko in district. Research design is a basic plan that guides data collection and analysis of the study and it has to have a plan with a set of rules that enables the researcher to conceptualize and observe the problem under study (Kothari, 2004). The target population for the study was 381 respondents in primary schools; composed of 19 head teachers, 41 deputy head teachers, 120 primary school teachers and 201 primary six pupils. This research made a conclusion basing on research questions and findings related to them and final conclusion of this study is that there is a significant positive relationship school organization (Classroom management, Effective communication and Student monitoring and evaluation) and student’s academic performance) relate positively to students performance (student commitment to academic activities, Good relationship between teachers and students and student’s discipline and student’s performance). The study recommends that the ministry of education could facilitate these head teachers to make different tours visits to experienced schools in order to learn from them on how they organize their schools., the district institution has to evaluate and provide rewards where the teachers had used the effective communication, school management and students – teacher’s relation in school organization to enhance and improve student’s performance. that school head teachers and head of studies should have regular meeting with students in order to discover the best strategies for classroom organization strategies to use in school organization and that there should be a deliberate attempt to conduct a study which establishes the relationship of school organization based on factors that are internal to school and which enforce the relationship between teachers and students external to such as behavioral issues of the students, school materials.

    Information and communication technology in the competence based learning in lower private secondary schools of Nakasongola district, Uganda

    The current study was carried out to assess the use of information and communication technology (ICT) in the competency-based learning in lower private secondary schools of Uganda, taking a case study of Nakasongola district. Specifically, it was hinged on four questions namely:1. To what extent are ICT facilities available in lower private secondary schools, Nakasongola district, Uganda?; 2. To what extent are teachers capable of integrating ICT in the competency-based learning in lower private secondary schools, Nakasongola district, Uganda?; 3. What is the perception of teachers towards using ICT in the implementation of a competency-based learning in lower private secondary schools, Nakasongola district, Uganda?; and What is the students‘ attitude and capacity to use ICT in the competency-based learning in lower private secondary schools, Nakasongola district, Uganda? This study used the cross- sectional survey research design. The population of the study was 122 teachers, 1300 students of S.1-S.3 classes where the competency-based curriculum was as of the year 2023 still operating, and 12 head teachers in the selected 12 schools in Nakasongola district and a sample size was 400 respondents. Out of the 100 teachers who were given questionnaires, 75 returned them. And as for the students, those who participated in the study were 200. The findings were that the ICT facilities‘ availability in lower private secondary schools of Nakasongola district was to a small extent. The majority of private schools in the district are lacking ICT facilities. Secondly, teachers are able to integrate ICT in the competency-based curriculum to a small extent. This means that the majority of teachers in Nakasongola are poor at ICT skills integration in teaching. They said that what they know best is the use of smart phones in searching for the required materials/work but they are limited with money for buying mbs to access the internet. They also said that it is time consuming, so they teach and assign the students to use ICT to do assignments. Thirdly, the majority of teachers have a negative attitude towards ICT integration in the competency-based curriculum. Lastly, to a large extent, students are capable of integrating ICT in the competency based curriculum and they perceive it to be good. In other words, the majority of students have a positive attitude towards ICT. Although the majority of them do not have the capacity to own personal computers and Smartphones, they access these services from friends outside school (as revealed during oral interviews). The study concludes that the competency based curriculum which was rolled out in the secondary schools of Uganda in 2020 has not yet been properly appreciated and understood by some teachers especially those in rural areas like Nakasongola. In this curriculum, students are supposed to be at the centre of learning therefore learning is supposed to be learner-cenred and the teacher‘s role is just to facilitate learning. Because of this, many teachers have perceived it to be the role of students to look for, access and use the ICT equipment to research on what teachers ask them to do. They think the learners can do it all, come and present in class before the teacher, thus thinking that students need the ICT more than the teachers. Because of this, many teachers have relaxed on ICT skills acquisition and integration in teaching. The researcher therefore recommends that just as the government has made efforts to supply ICT equipment in many government aided secondary schools it should as well supply them to private schools since private schools pay taxes to the government and they supplement government efforts in the provision of education to the masses. Secondly, refresher courses are necessary to the teachers regarding how ICT should be integrated in teaching regarding how best teachers and students can do it. These courses should involve both teachers and students since both parties need this knowledge.

    Teacher efficiency and program implementation in primary schools Koboko district Uganda

    The purpose of this study was to investigate teacher efficiency focusing mainly on teacher skills, quality performance and motivation on curriculum implementation in primary schools of Koboko District. The study was guided by the following objectives namely to investigate the teacher quality performance on program implementation in primary schools Koboko District, To assess the teacher professional skills on program implementation in primary schools Koboko District, To establish teacher learner motivation on program implementation in primary schools Koboko District. The study employed exploratory research design. It used because the researcher hope to know whether there is a relationship between corona virus prevention measures and teacher lifestyle in Koboko District. The study employed qualitative approach. Qualitative approach was used to capture the facts and insights of the study. According to Creswell (2012), a qualitative research approach is an approach in which a researcher seeks to explore a problem and develop a detail understanding of the central phenomenon. The sample size was determined by both Non-probabilities means and probability means, and using Krejcie and Morgan (1970) sample size of 171 was used. Based on research findings, the researcher finishes this work by giving the following recommendations that aim at improving the instructional supervision system any time they are given consideration by the concerned stakeholders in education. In order to improve the instructional supervision system teachers should see it as a helpful tool to enhance their professional growth. In this regards teachers have to change their negative attitude towards instruction supervision. Supervisor should establish a good atmosphere between them and supervisee so that they collaborate and work towards a common objective of improving the quality education. They have also to make a follow-up of agreements or resolutions taken in their activities of instruction supervision. They are recommended also to carryout it on regular basis. Koboko district should put in place a monitoring and follow up system of conclusions and results of different supervision carried out in the district by different supervisors as they provide report in that unit. The government of Uganda through Uganda education board should motivate in terms of salary the supervisor especially deputy head teachers in charge of studies at school level as they get the same salary as teachers. Again Rwanda should provide facilities such as motorbike to supervisor especially sector education officer to ensure the reach every school regularly in sector. There should be a decentralization of general inspectors to district level
