Abstract
The study aimed at establishing or identifying the causes of poor academic performance of learners with special needs in order to find solution to the problem. The objectives of the study were to; identify the problems facing learners with learning difficulties and to find solution to eradicate the problem, to find out whether teachers were using teaching aids when instituting learners, to find out whether teachers have positive or negative attitudes towards learners with learning difficulties, to identify whether there are specially trained teachers and to investigate whether poor teaching method was the cause of failure/poor academic performance among learners with learning difficulties
