Proliferation and socio-economic development of selected International Non-Governmental Organizations (INGOS) in Gasabo District - Rwanda

| dc.description.abstract | The study on Proliferation and Social economic development in selected INGOs in Gasabo district, Rwanda was guided by six research objectives that were set to: (I) determine profile respondents in terms of gender, age, level of education, position and experience; (ii) level of proliferation; (iii) level of social economic development; (iv) establish if there is a significant difference in the level of INGO proliferation according to relevant profile variables; (v) difference in the level of social economic development according to relevant profile variables and (vi) relationship between INGO proliferation and social economic development in selected INGO in Gasabo district, Rwanda. The study findings revealed that majority of the respondents fell in the following categories, in gender majority were male, in age brackets of 20 29 years, diploma holders dominated in education category, education officers and 1 — 5 years in terms of position and experience respectively. Results also indicate that the level of INGO proliferation was very satisfactory, and the level of social economic development was satisfactory with means of 3.26 and 3.00 respectively. The study went ahead to reveal that level of proliferation significantly differed according to age whereas it did not differed according to gender, level of education and experience. On the other hand the difference in the level of social economic development differ significantly according to age where it did not differ according to gender, education and experience; and lastly that proliferation are positively correlated with social economic development (r~ 0.275, sig= 0.001). These finding lead to the rejection of the null hypothesizes which say that there is no significant relationship between INGO proliferation and social economic development Danks in Uganda. The researcher therefore recommends the need for government to boost infrastructure development; improve on environment conservation since most of the green belt was destroyed in the course of genocide; recruit more teachers and train existing teacher to acquire more skills which will enable them to execute their duties with competence; and instill saving culture of the masses to help improve the finances and income of the population to enable them become self-reliant | en_US |
