Abstract
The study investigated the relationship between school facilities and completion rates in primary schools in Gweri Sub-County, Soroti District, Uganda. To achieve the purpose of the study, where specific objectives were set out and these included; to find out the level of school facilities in primary schools in Gweri Sub-county, to assess the level of co9mpletion rates of learners in primary schools in Gweri Sub-county and to establish the relationship between school facilities and completion rates in primary schools in Gweri Sub-county. The design used in this study was descriptive correlation involving both qualitative and quantitative approaches. The sample size was 333. Purposive and simple random sampling were used to chose the respondents. Questionnaires and interview guides were used to gather the data. Validity and reliability of the instruments were determined. Frequencies, percentages and means were used to analyze the data. Pearson Linear Correlation was used to determine the relationship between the variables at 0.05 level of significance. The results revealed that the school facilities in primary schools Gweri Sub-county was poor with a mean of 2.04. While the completion rates was poor especially in primary schools were most of the school facilities were lacking. There is a relationship between school facilities and completion rates. The null hypothesis was rejected. Based on the findings, the conclusions school facilities were crucial for achieving high learners completion rates. The study recommends that the government should provide good facilities to the primary schools in Gweri Sub-county to motivate pupils to learn effectively to avid drop-outs.
