The purpose of the study was to establish whether there is a relationship between tax rates and the incomes of petroleum companies. The objectives of the study were; to identify the various taxes levied on petroleum products in Uganda, to ascertain the extent to which an increase in tax rates affects the incomes of petroleum companies, to identity the relationship between taxes and incomes of petroleum companies. The instruments used to collect data were questionnaires and interviews. Samples were selected both randomly and systematically. The sources of data were both primary and secondary sources. The data was typed using Microsoft word, analyzed using Microsoft Excel and SPSS. Tax rates greatly affect the incomes of Caltex Oil (U) Ltd The various taxes charged on petroleum products are excise duty and largely import duty. The taxes have a great impact on the incomes of petroleum companies. The continuous tax rates increase on petroleum products have affected the sales of Caltex Oil (U) ltd, this has affected its income. The only way Caltex Oil is left with is to shift the whole tax
