Abstract
The study focused on the classroom management and academic performance of learners with hearing impairment in Nomorio zone, Mt Elgon district Kenya. This was undertaken by the researcher after discovering that many learners are out of schools especially Those with hearing impairment. The researcher wanted to find out why children with hearing impairment do not perform well especially those in regular schools, attitude of teachers and teaching strategies used - the researcher wanted to know the intervention strategies put in place by the Kenyan-government. The researcher used 12 respondents drawn from the 6 schools out of 12 in Nomorio zone. The schools used were stratified randomly sampled to cover the whole geographical . area. The respondents were issued with questionnaires to fill. The researcher found out that many teachers didn't have the skills in handling learners with hearing impairment. Various conclusions have been made and recommendation made to the government for possible intervention.
