Abstract
This report is organized into five chapters. Chapter one comprises of background of the study, statement of the problem, objectives of the study, research questions, scope of the study, limitation and delimitations of the study and assumptions of the study. The study focuses on the effects of family background on the students’ academic performance in Arua municipality, Arua district. Chapter two of the study comprises of the literature review which will present the past study by different scholars on family background and academic performance. The chapter also comprise of the theoretical framework of the study and the conceptual framework. The third chapter is the research methodology, which comprises of the research design, the sampling methods and the data collection and analysis methods.
