Abstract
With the passing of time and the advent of technology, the world has become a global village. There have been increased needs by states and its citizens to do business in a foreign country. Furthermore, the government of Uganda, like many other third world countries rely on Investments from other nationalities to help in achieving their millennium development goals Especially that of poverty eradication. This whole endeavor is governed by the international investment law principles that that have come to be accepted by states as customary law on investments. As a result states have an obligation to draft a legal framework in line with the international instruments to facilitate or even make a fair playing ground for business. This thesis will therefore look at whether the Uganda legal framework relating to foreign investment meets the requirements of international investment law, its achievements and constraints by evaluating the history of Uganda by comparing the past and present government.
