Abstract
The research was set to investigate the relationship between consumption expenditure and income level of the individuals in Nyero sub county Kumi District —Uganda, the objectives were to evaluate the level income level of the individuals, to establish the level of consumption expenditure of the individual, to investigate the relationship between consumption expenditure and income level of the individuals in Nyero sub county in Kumi district and the hypothesis of the study was, there is no relationship between consumption expenditure and income level. Under the income level it was found that most of the respondent were farmers, keep domestic animals at home, do other business beside farming and their farming was based on subsistence farming. The consumption expenditure of the respondents was found to be heavily on alcohol drinking, quality and quantity of goods, education among others. Consumption expenditure and income level using the chi square distribution was found to have a significant relationship.The material resources planning and effective purchasing the research found out that there was a positive relationship between consumption expenditure and income level at 0.05 level of significance. The researcher recommended that the local community should embark on the modern way of farming that is commercial farming since this can improve on their income level.The researcher also encourages the government to support the community both financially and also educate them on the income generating activities. Also the government should put strict laws against heavy drinkers of alcohol since this was found to be major factor which drain people’s income.
