Abstract
The study was about the role of Local Government in promoting education case study of Wera Sub-county in Amuria District Uganda. The study was mainly based on three research objectives which is; To identify the education services provided by local governments, to establish the challenges faced by the local government in the provision of education services in Wera Sub-county, to find out the possible solutions to the challenges. The study employed across section together with descriptive and analytical research design based on both quantitative and qualitative Research designs. Questionnaires and interview guide were used to collect data. Data was summarized, sorted, edited, and analysed, findings were presented in a report format. The findings indicated that the majority of respondents were male. The respondents were mostly those in the age bracket of 31-40 year. The study identifies the education services provided by local government in Wera Sub-county Amuria district Uganda which are first aid kits, scholastic materials, health education and financial services. It also identifies some of the challenges that the local government are facing and solutions that can be put in place to mitigate the challenges
