Abstract: This research was carried out to establish the roles of the United Nation in promoting and protecting Human Rights in Wau, South Sudan. The objectives of the study are to identify the challenges United Nation is facing in the promotion and protection of human rights and to determine the human rights violations or abuses in Wau south Sudan. I used scholarly work, library and general knowledge. it's in general a secondary sources. Throughout chapter two to five, the objectives of the research is well discussed, concluded and recommendations made to the right parties by the researcher. As the results of the findings proves that the United Nation has really played a great role in the promotion of Human Rights in Wau thou there are still human rights abuses and the United Nation is facing lots of challenges in the process of their work. There is need for active involvement of all the concerned parties like GOSS, SPLA, NGO and UNMISS. they should take the unnecessary step to stop the violations of human rights in South Sudan at large and also work hand in hand with UNMISS to promote and protects human rights.
