Abstract
The topic of the study was loan accessibility and development of small scale enterprises (SMEs)
in Usuk sub county, Katakwi district
A sample size of 50 respondents was used and the objectives of the study were; to assess the
services received by small scale enterprises in work sub-county to fmd out the challenges faced
by small sc ale enterprises in accessing and servicing loans and to assess the relationship
between loan accessibility and development of small scale enterprises in Usuk sub county.
The findings of the study were; SSEs receive both financial and non financial services from
small scale enterprises, small scale entrepreneurs face challenges like lack of loan security, high
interest rates and other and there is a positive relationship between loan accessibility and
development of small enterprises.
The research study brought a conclusion that the development of SMEs in the Usuk Sub County
are mainly due to loan accessibility
The recommendation was that for more development of small scale enterprises to be achieved,
there entrepreneurs need to put loans for the use for which they were intended
