Abstract
The study was aimed at examining the impact of human resource planning on organizational productivity in Steel and tubes industries Uganda limited. It was based on three objectives which included assessing the effect of human resource demand forecasting on the productivity of' organizations, assessing the effect of human resource supply forecasting on organizational productivity and determining the effect human resource audit on organizational productivity. The study adopted an analytical design research design involving both qualitative and quantitative research designs. The study adopted a study population of I 34 with the sample of I 00 people chosen using Slovene' formula. The study findings were that human resource demand forecasting prevails at steel and tubes industries limited. It does affect the productivity of the organization. The measures realized include help in improving the quality of staff, it also reduces gaps that hinder capacity HR operation, reduction of errors in employee selection and attaining the organizational required skills, increased organizational flexibility and selection of appropriate number of employees. The study findings were also that human resource supply forecasting affect productivity of steel and tubes through assessment retention needs and promotion, ascertain the cost of transforming to suit organizational requirement, establishing valuable work forces, evaluation of required competencies, measuring the working flow measures, es1ablishing the market availability and anticipation of available skills for taping. It was established that human resource audit affect the productivity of organizations through reduction of HR wastage. Analysis of quality of HR establishing loop holes in performance, establishing the skills available and needed. Evaluating the experience gaps, establishing the knowledge gaps for action. Human resource planning constitutes a bigger part of productivity despite the challenges encountered in the process. The study recommends that human resource demand forecasting is important and those vested with the authority, employees of the organization need to undergo a serious scrutiny to enable the management and provision of required human resource capacity, improved organizational existence in order to produce a required work improving the skills forecasting for purposes of determining to ascertain the available work force for adoption. Help management execute their people management role. This is the technical-professional and service role of HR and Running HR systems and procedures at the most cost-effective way. This is the financial management role of HR.
