Logistics management and financial profitability of the office des cultures industrielles du Rwanda (OCIR-cafe)

This study established the relationship between effectiveness of logistic management and financial profitability in Office Des Cultures Industrilles du Rwanda. As In fulfilling the purpose of the study, specific objectives were set and these included; to determine the profile of respondents; to establish the extent of effectiveness of logistic management; the determine the level of financial profitability at OCIR-CAFE; and to establish relationship between logistic management and level of financial profitability in the company. Descriptive correlation design was used in this study and SLOVEN’s formula was also used to determine a sample size of 178 respondents from 320 total research populations and the sampling was done by the use of simple random sampling. Research instruments used included questionnaires and interview guide while personal observation and secondary data were also used as research methods. The methods to determine the validity and reliability of research instruments were Content Validity Index and pre-testing. The researcher followed all the ethical and logistic considerations of research were also seriously considered in this research. Both qualitative and quantitatively data analysis were employed using statistical techniques such as mean, correlation and calculations of profitability ratios were also done by the use of Microsoft Word. Study findings reveal that the effectiveness of logistic management in OCIR-CAFEis effective at overall mean value of 2.52, the level of financial profitability in the company was consistently high in net profit ratios for the last three years (2009=1.18; 2010=12.52; and 2011=19.96). A strong negative relationship between the two variables was also noted at R. Value of -0.98. It was concluded that effectiveness of logistic management in OCIR-CAFEIs a cornerstone to financial profitability. It was recommended that use of modern technology, improving the logistic facilities and standards, emphasis on production decisions, including contractingshould all be considered to enhance the effectiveness of logistic management in the organization so as to achieve better financial profitability.
