Abstract
The research was conducted in Pride Microfinance, Kampala on "debt management and performance of organizations in Uganda. The research was guided by research objectives which included; examining the techniques of debt management employed by Pride Microfinance Bank;
finding out the impact on debt management of bank performance, and finding out the challenges debt of management in Pride Microfinance Bank.
On examining the techniques of debt management employed by Pride Microfinance Bank, the findings revealed that; determination of payment period, determination of payment period, assessment of credit worthiness, contacting credit reference bureau were the responses given by the respondents. On the impact on debt management of bank performance, the findings revealed that; clear cash flows, increase in revenue, reduction in losses, and achievement of organizational goal were the answers given by the respondents. On the challenges of debt management in Pride
Microfinance Bank, the findings revealed that; fraud, lack of debt management software, poor record keeping, and poor coordination with other banks were the answers given by the respondents. The research concluded there is a strong positive relationship between credit policy and debt collection performance in Pride Microfinance. The existence of an effective credit policy, the higher the debt collection performance levels. The researcher however recommended that the bank acquires latest debt management data software, engage the stakeholders in identifying
problems in debt collection among others.
