Teaching methods and the academic performance of students in mathematics of Githaithi Secondary School

This study was conducted in Gathaithi Secondary School, Githunguri Division, Kiambu on academic performance of learners in mathematics. The study used teachers and learners of the above school. The report is made up of five chapters. Chapter one gives the general background of the research i.e. background of study, the theory, hypothesis, objectives and significance of the study. Chapter two is literature review; it gives different views of culture concerning the topics for example, the impact of teaching method and academic performance of students in mathematics, the resources / apparatus necessary in the proper teaching/learning of mathematics, the factors influencing the academic performance in mathematics, the problems faced by students in mathematics learning, impact of school facilities on the academic performance of students in mathematics Chapter three deals with the research methodology it includes design, environment, data collection procedures and satisfied treatment of data. Chapter four deals with presentation of the data from the field with the analysis and presentation. Finally chapter five deals with discussion, recommendation and conclusion.
