Abstract
The study sought to establish the effects of inventory control systems on
performance of the stores department where by inventory control system is the
planned methods of managing and storing the material at the lowest possible
cost with out affecting the production and distribution schedule, it also
involves the monitoring of the stock movement where as stores department is
the department in an organization where goods purchased kept or stored to be
dispatched to the intended use the organization. The reason for this study is to
evaluate the type of inventory control systems in use at the joint medical
stores.
The study was driven by four objectives, to find out the relationship between
inventory con lrol system and the performance of the stores department at joint
medical stores, to find out the effect of inventory control on the performance of
the stores department at Joint Medical Stores, to find out the difficulties in
inventory control systems at Joint Medical Stores and to make
commendations for their solutions. achieve these objectives the researcher sampled 9 respondents from Joint
medical Stores. The study utilized qualitative research methods two data
:collections instruments were used: structured questionnaire and structured
interviews. The collected data was presented in tabular and figurative forms.
