Abstract
The study analyzed “gender equality and women empowerment in selected private institutions of Somaliland”. The research study was guided with the following predetermined objectives: 1. To determine the level of gender equality in the selected private institutions 2. To analyze the level of women empowerment in the selected institutions 3. To identify whether there was significant differences between gender equality and women empowerment in the selected private institutions The study used cross-sectional correlation design where 160 questionnaires were distributed out of a population of 1600 individuals. Frequencies and percentages were used with the use of Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). The study found out that there is still gender inequality in Somaliland where business private companies showed limited engagement of women and at the same time unfavorable policies that negates women. On the other hand, the study proved the increment of female employees in general but again this proved limited empowerment to women entirely.
