Abstract

Generally. the study aimed at investigating the drivers of e-procurement and its implementation or integrution in the traditional business procurement practices. Specifically it aimed at c·:-.amining the state of affairs as far as performance of a company's supply chain is concerned when e-procurcmcnt is integrated into its operations. Literature was reviewed thematically looking at the major themes of the topic adopted tl·om the specific objectives and research questions. Such included indentifying and understanding the drivers or e-procurcment viz-avis e:-."mining the measures of supply chain performam'.: in the 111udcrn busi11css world, and the inherent clwllcngcs faced. This l(mned a basis for iclentilication ur gaps in the topical (lr\~ll of the study. The study adopted a descriptive approach to data collection and analysis focusing on the procurement, evaluation committee and IT departments of the New Vision Printing and l'ublishing Company. The dominunl methods here included interviews. observation. qu-:slionnail'l! ::md secondary datn ann lysis. lhe data collected ITclm the lield was entered into Epidata and analysed using SPSS statistical method of data analysis. It WtlS found out that e-procurement greatly improves on organizations' supply chain performance by 70% as compared to the traditional procurement practices.
