    Motivation and employee performance in local government: A case study of Busakira Sub County Mayuge District

    The research topic was employee motivation and staff performance in Busakira sub county Mayuge district. The objectives of the study were to examine how employee motivation leads to employee performance in Busakira sub county Mayuge district, to establish the challenges of employee performance in Busakira sub county Mayuge district and to establish possible solutions to the challenges of employee performance in Busakira sub county Mayuge district. The study was conducted using a descriptive case study research design in order to examine the relationship between the independent variable (motivation) and the dependent variable employee performance in local government in Mayuge district. The researcher used qualitative and quantitative approaches. The methods of data collection were questionnaire and secondary data sources. Quantitative data generated was summarized using descriptive frequency tables. The findings of the study per objective where employee inclusion in decision making plays an important role in employee empowerment to serve the community better because it creates a feeling of being loved accepted and recognized. Training of workers empowers them to be creative by acquiring new ideas, knowledge and skills on development programs in the country which enhances their competence. It is important to incorporate employees’ values in decision making in the local government plans which will make the organizations more homely to work in. If employees have job security or a long employee tenure creates stability in local governments mid it was argued that they can work with a lot of comfort ability and also improves on service delivery to the community…
