- ItemAuditing and performance of selected Financial Institutions in South Sudan(Kampala International University: College of Higher Degrees and Research, 2012-05) Akuei, Ajou Akuei MayenThis study determined the correlates between auditing and performance of selected Financial Institutions in South Sudan, with the objectives to determine the profile of respondents in terms of age, gender, position, work experience and highest educational qualification, to determine the level of auditing in the selected Financial Institutions in South Sudan, to determine the level of performance of the selected Financial Institutions in South Sudan and to establish the relationship between auditing and performance of selected Financial Institutions in South Sudan. To attend these objectives, the researcher used study adopted a descriptive survey design. The study particularly used a descriptive correlational study because it was aiming at establishing a relationship between the study variables. The test-retest technique was used to determine the reliability (accuracy) of the researcher devised instruments. The study findings made the following reveiations: First, the findings indicated that most respondents were male with 85(65%), ranged between 20-39 years of age with 63(49%), over 73(69%) had bachelors’ in education and majority 74(63%) had a working experience between 6-10 years, On the level of auditing in selected Financial Institutions were very high, the level of performance of Financial Institutions was generally very high. The findings also indicated positive significant correlations between auditing and performance, since all since all the sig. values were greater than or equal to 0.05, which is the maximum level of significance required to declare a relationship insignificant. This is shown by the fact that the sig. value was greater than the maximum sig. value of 0.05 considered in Statistical Package for Social Sciences. The researcher therefore, recommends the followings strategies: From the findings and the conclusions of the study, the researcher recommends there is need to improve on gender equality in the study since most of them were found to be males leaving out women, in line with the above, the researcher recommends encouraging women also to do challenging courses like accounting since it was only males who dominated in the sample and also to upgrade for Master and PhDs, there is need for managers to audit after every period to maintain the level of auditing which was found to be very high not to detonate in selected Financial Institutions and the Government of South Sudan should reinforce measures for total adhesion to auditing in firms and maintain highest performance.
