(Kampala International University, School of law., 2011-07) Asiimwe, Abraham Lincon
This study "Analysis of the efficacy of the electoral process in Uganda'' was carried out in Uganda with the aim of ascertaining the effectiveness of the electoral process, analyzing the challenges of election administration in a multiparty electoral process especially focusing more on presidential elections. To also discuss the role of electoral c9mmission in the electoral process. To successfully analyze this qualitative method of data collection was adopted the study relied on literature from various scholars on this topic and related areas. The research findings indicated that elections per se are not an indication of democracy and better electoral process but only one part of it. From the period of 2001 up to date the legal and institutional framework is still underdeveloped though there is a journey and process of democratization in Uganga. The study concluded that for an effective electoral process a combination of factors have to be put in place for example voter education, respect for the will of the people and independent electoral commission among others.
