The study investigated the causes of girls drop out in selected villages of Bbanda parish Primary School, Wakiso District. To achieve the above objective, a qualitative research design was adopted. Questionnaires and personal interviews were some of the research tools used. A total of 150 respondents were used in the study. It was found out that a combination of factors were responsible for the increased drop out rather than a single factor. However the outstanding factor happened to be poverty. Among other factors included the heavy domestic work load to girl children, early pregnancies, poor family health status and early employment. The level of girls school dropout was found to be alarming in the area. It was found out that 60% of the girls that enrolled in ordinary level drop out before completion whereas 35% at A’ level dropout before completion. It was recommended that the government should introduce universal secondary education for all secondary school going children so as to reduce the number of dropout, also the fight against poverty is another strategy to reduce on the dropout, further it was the implementation of the affirmative action for women so as to increased opportunities for girls in all aspects and sensitization of parents on the importance of education.
