The questionnaires were administered on samples of teachers. parents. students and law enforcers. Interviews were also used as a method of data collection as well as focused group discussion. The data was analyzed using tables and percentages to deterrnine the effect of child abuse towards children's academic performance. There fore the study findings concluded that child abuse affects children's acadernic perforrnance and that it resulted into poor performance. hatred. feelings towards school. teachers. peers and education in general and high dropout rates. The researcher then rnacle recomrnenclations based on the findings as indicated in chapter 5. some of these recomrnendations are: The political leaders should take a leading role in fighting the extent to which child abuse has reached the whole country. Cases of child abuse should be handled as a cornrnunity problern and not as individual problern. There is need for professional counselors who can handle the abused children and help them to cope up not only with the stigrna but also with the situations.
