(Kampala International University, Colleges of Humanities and Social sciences, 2015-09) Birungi, Midius
The gist of this study was to establish the fringe benefits as motivation tool for work performance in enterprise and so, the study was conducted at Seroma hardware Ltd Uganda involving general employees and customers. The researcher adopted quantitative design where questionnaires were employed in data collection among 40 participants. The study found that there is a notable positive effect of motivation on work performance in an enterprise though this is the case; the findings indicated that there was high employee commitment, satisfaction and loyalty; which are all predicators of employee motivation on performance. The results indicate that. motivation hasn’t been prioritized as a strategic instrument towards stimulating employee performance; this is because. the study found that, there was some bit of motivational practices that were purposively employed to engage staffs in a more constructive manner to stimulate performance. In other words, results suggest that the more appropriate motivational practices are towards employee’s behavioral enhancement the higher the performance, however, findings have indicated that Seroma hardware Ltd has utilized motivational factor as one of the key tools in influencing staff performance hence leading to better performance. Basing on the findings it was recommended that incentives are linked to key business goals and objectives. Rewarding achievements that further the company’s mission sends powerful messages about what behavior is valued. Further research should be conducted on the effect of participative budgeting on employees’ productivity
