(Case study: St Benard’s Ssmanya in Rakai District(Kampala International University,Department of Electrical and Telecommunication, School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, 2019-08) Bwijuka, BrianSchool dormitory problems has affected students’ lives and also led to loss of property that cost billions of money and it is a public concern in the 19th century where explosives and flammables are in abundant. Most schools in rural areas of Uganda have no capacity to handle emergencies like fire and the ministry of education and sports has to provide standards and measures for schools to follow so as to curb fire outbreaks. Despite this, schools seem not well prepared for fire disasters and without fire preparedness; schools will continue to lose lives, property and learning time. Last year on 12th Nov, 2018 eleven boys perished and other 20 suffered severe burns in a fire that gutted their dormitories in Uganda while they slept. The Headmaster St Bernard Secondary School in Rakai, southern part of Uganda, said he suspected some students who had been expelled recently to have been behind the "heinous act". The fire ripped through the School on Sunday night where by the arsonists first locked the doors of the dormitories before setting them on fire and this was difficult for the rescue team to evacuate the students inside the dormitories, some would have been saved but died out of suffocation.
