Many politicians and educationalists argue that the effect of single parenthood affects the performance of learners in primary schools so the purpose was to investigate about the effect of single parenthood on the performance of pupils in Nkondo sub-county, Kamuli district. The objectives of the study were to find out the effect of single parenthood on pupils’ performance in primary schools. The instrument used included questionnaire, group discussion, interview and reading available materials. It was carried out in five schools that covered 100 respondents that is five headteachers, 15 teachers and 80 pupils. The findings revealed that poor performance of pupils is caused by single parenthood. The researcher recommended that the government should invite and welcome Non-Government Organizations to open up schools like the orphanage schools, nursing homes to help the single parented families. Also, parents should be sensitized about the importance of micro finance projects such projects would help them get loans and start small businesses so that they can avail their children with basic needs especially scholastic materials.
