The objectives of the study were: - To identify the causes of population growth in Kapchorwa Town Council. To determine the implication of population growth on the environment in Kapchorwa Town Council. - To suggest measures which should be under taken to control population growth in Kapchorwa Town Council. - To suggest and give recommendations for environmental management in Kapchorwa Town Council. The researcher collected data by observation, taking of photographs of selected polluted areas in the town council and also administered questionnaires to obtain the data. Information about the 1991 and 2002 population and Housing census was obtained from the office of the population officer, Kapchorwa District. The data was analyzed by use of both qualitative and quantitative methods. The research findings revealed that; The population growth rate of Kapchorwa Town Council was 89.9% between 1991 and 2002. Compared lo 4.2% population growth rate of the whole District between 1991 and 2002. The researcher noted that the population of Kapchorwa Town Council, given the growth rate doubles after every ten years. The environment of Kapchorwa Town Council is degrading very fast- the indicators are; . Disposal of refuse near water sources. Burning of refuse near buildings, causing air population. The high population growth is impacting on the environment negatively at equally a very high rate. There is need for aggressive intervention of population growth in Kapchorwa Town Council through sensitization of the population about the dangers of a high population.
