    Emerging issue of alcoholism, child abuse, its effects on early childhood development education centres of Bugar Zone, Kamariny Division of Keiyo District

    A qualitative study was undertaken to establish the effects of alcoholism on child abuse. In early childhood development centers. The following objectives were used to guide the stud~ยท To identify causes of alcoholism among parents. To establish the effects of alcoholism on early childhood education. To find out the transferred effects of alcoholism on early childhood education. A sample of 60 respondents was selected and it included teachers parents and ECDE officers. Findings from the study showed that mental and emotional stress were responsible for alcoholism of parents. It was also discovered that alcoholism was greatly affecting child education in the following ways; some children were living under poverty and were victims of domestic violence. This in turn influenced truancy among the children. The children from alcoholic families were deprived of love and security and therefore they had to undergo stress and consequently become violent. The following were recommended; to develop a policy on alcohol abuse and to reprimand those parents who are found abusing it The sensitize parents about the negative consequences of alcoholism to their children. To train the teachers on how to handle victims of child abuse due to alcohol.
