- ItemConflict management and employees performance in selected private Universities in Kampala District, Uganda.(Kampala International University, College of Economics and Management, 2013-12) Christine, NamawandaThe study assessed the relationship between conflict management and employee performance in selected private universities in Kampala district, Uganda. It was based on four specific objectives; to determine the demographic characteristics of the respondents in terms of age, gender, level of education, teaching experience and schedules, to determine the extent of conflict management in selected private universities in Kampala district, Uganda, to determine the level of employee performance in selected private universities in Kampala district, Uganda and to establish if there is any relationship between conflict management and employees performance in selected private universities in Kampala district, Uganda. Data analysis that was done found out that majority of respondents were aged between 21-30 and where represented by 53.7% whereas respondents aged 61-70 where minimal represented by 1.5%. most respondents where female with a 58.2% and males where represented by 41.8%. most respondents had attained masters degree and these where 130 (64.7%). Respondents who teach on full time schedule where 153 (76.1%) and part timing respondents where 48 (23.9%) lastly, respondents who have a teaching experience of 0-5 years where 134 (66.7%), followed those with 6-10 years of experience who where 55 (27.4) and above 10 years where 12 (6.0%). Results from the relationship between conflict management and employees performance portrayed a positive significant relationship between the two variables with .255 rvalue. Basing on the study findings the researcher made the following recommendations, Effective Corporation of the academic staff, training of staff on causes, effects, and resolution strategies, provision of an appropriate and favorable working environment, continuous assessment of the university performance and motivating the staff towards improved performance.
