Student portal application system for accessing student’s information (results and the class timetable
(Kampala International University.College of Computer and Informatiom Technology, 2013-08) David, Malueth Panchol; Nicholas, Kipkorir Koech
The student portai application system is a system that allows a student to access the results and the timetable with ease. Class timetables and examination results and other curriculum activities are issued through paper printouts which are pinned to notice boards, perimeter walls, corridors and affix to office windows affecting light illumination in the office. This medium of issuance is outdated, expensive, and bulky and most of all easily ignored. The SPAS system solves these problems by allowing the students access the results and the timetable through their android smartphones. With the system in place there will be no need to pin results and the timetable to the office windows, corridors and walls. Students will also be able to access these resources conveniently at any time. They will also not be required to keep a paper copy in their pockets which sometimes may get lost. The student will also have the latest updates of these resources in real-time. The methodology used by the researchers is Observation and Document review research techniques. The SPAS system was developed for android smartphones; Development tools were eclipse, Android ADT,javajdk and android handset(s). Limitations ofthe SPAS system are; it can only run on android platform and it will be serving students ofKampala International University.
