Teacher's attitude towards learners with hearing impairment in an Inclusive Setting: A Case Study of Selected Schools in Dede Zone, Rongo District, Kenya.
(Kampala International University, College of Education, Open and Distance Learning, 2008-10) Dominic, Eric; Angila
This study was set forward to determine the attitude of teachers towards learners with hearing impairment in an inclusive setting within Dede zone in Rongo district being an illustrative example. The general objective or purpose of the study was to investigate regular teacher's perception towards learners with hearing impairment in an inclusive setting. While reviewing related information to the topic of study, the researcher sought for ideas of prior scholars whose suppositions and contentions were similar the problem under study. The study employed a descriptive design as this had been viewed as the most appropriate design and data was analyzed using percentages and frequency table. From the study findings, it was realized that there were many children with hearing impairment in the regular schools within Dede zone. A recommendation was therefore made that although a considerable number of teachers seem to be changing their attitude towards learners with hearing impairment there is a lot to be done to ensure full attitude change.
