College of Education,open distance and e-learning., 2013-07) Ecam, Nelsonhis study was specifically designed and conducted to investigate the contribution of school governance to performance of teachers in secondary schools in Apac district. The study focused on examining the roles school governance played in improving the performance of teachers in the district specifically in teaching. The researcher applied a Correlational survey study design using quantitative approach to derive meaning from quantitative data generated. The main research instrument used to obtain data during the study was Likert scale Self administered questionnaire adopted and modified to suit the objectives of the study. Data collection was guided by the research questions and objectives. A total of 126 respondents were purposely and randomly sampled from the eight secondary schools in the district. Results from the study and analysis showed that there was a significant relationship between school governance and the performance of teachers in reference to teaching. Revelations from the study further indicated that the board of governors did not sufficiently monitor and supervise the teaching process hence making some teachers not to effectively perform. The study recommended that the Board of Governors should recruit more qualified teachers to mitigate the problem of poor performance; the board of governors should also involve teachers in the process of school management.
