This dissertation, prepared for the faculty of Social Sciences of Kampala International University, assesses the impact of the Poverty eradication Action Plan (PEAP) on income poverty in rural Uganda, using Bududa Sub-county, Bududa District, in Eastern Uganda as the case study. The study concentrated on policy provisions of the PEAP and the core conceptual issues that bedevil the literature on rural income poverty. Working from literatures, interviews, questionnaires, focus group discussions and observation of phenomena for data collection, and using both qualitative and quantitative designs in data processing and analysis, the study described the state of rural income poverty, assessed empirical policy implications of the PEAP strategies for increasing incomes of the poor, and proposed essential interventions for future policy direction. It remains to be seen whether findings of the study will be amalgamated to fit into and influence future PEAP or related income poverty policy.
