    Teamwork and organization performance in parastatals

    The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of teamwork on organizational performance of National Water and Sewerage Corporation in Kampala Uganda. The study was guided by the following specific objectives; i) to determine the effect of shared values on organizational performance in National Water and Sewerage Corporation in Kampala Uganda, ii) to evaluate the effect of mutual trust on organizational performance in National Water and Sewerage Corporation in Kampala Uganda and iii) to evaluate the effect of team roles on organizational performance in National Water and Sewerage Corporation in Kampala Uganda. The study adopted a cross sectional design with use of both qualitative and quantitative approach with 214 respondents. According to objective one, results showed that shared values have significant positive effect on organizational performance. This means that if shred values are promoted, the organization performs well. The second objective also showed that mutual trust has a significant effect on organizational performance, if the top management or supervisors trust the employees, performance is enhanced and third objective indicated that team roles have a significant effect on organizational performance. This suggests that when employees are allowed to work in teams with defined roles, employees perform well which is manifested in the overall organizational performance. Conclusions have been deduced that Shared values, Mutual trust, teamwork all have significant positive effects on organizational performance. This means all these variables are good predictors of organizational performance. The research recommends the following; the management should promote shared values in the organization through allowing employees to have their expressions and view listened to. Mutual trust should be promoted in the organization, where by managers should trust their subordinated and assign them responsibilities and the subordinates should also trust their superiors. Further management of national water and Sewerage Corporation encourage team work, because team roles have a significant effect on organizational performance
