    Causes of indiscipline in secondary schools: a case study Keumbu Division Kisii Central District, Kenya.

    The research was an investigation into the causes and effects of Indiscipline among secondary schools in Keumbu Division, Kisii Central District. The objectives of the study were to identify the causes and effects of indiscipline among secondary school students, types of indiscipline problems common in secondary schools, determine the effects of indiscipline to student's academic performance and to formulate possible solutions to discipline problems. The researcher used the cross section research design. Both qualitative and quantitative techniques were also employed get reliable results. Seventy (70) respondents from five schools who comprised of 5 principals, 5 teachers and 60 students selected using simple random sampling and stratified sampling techniques were issued with questionnaires. The questionnaires were used to collect data which were analyzed using descriptive statistic thus frequency and percentages which were presented in tables. The research found that various factors cause indiscipline among secondary school students. The causes include; Lack of inadequate physical facilities, inadequate dialogue between teachers and students, overcrowded curriculum, lack of guidance and counseling among others. Based on the findings of the study the research recommended that: All necessary physical facilities to be provided in all schools, there should be open channels of communication between teachers and students. The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology to review the curriculum and make it manageable by both teachers and students. Establish guidance and counseling in schools.
