    Work Motivation, Job Satisfaction, and Organizational Commitment of Library Human Resource: A Case Study of Kampala International University

    The study looked at the relationship between job satisfaction, organizational commitment, and work motivation of library personnel. The study was conducted out at Kampala international university academic library. The objectives of the study were to find out: the relationship between work motivation, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment of the library personnel, the difference in the work motivation of professional and non-professional library personnel and to explore the difference in the job satisfaction of the library personnel in academic libraries. A questionnaire was used in the collection of data from respondents. The survey was administered by the researcher him self. A total of 20 respondents were enrolled in the study. These included both the management and support staff. The findings of this study reveal that a correlation exists between perceived motivation, job satisfaction, and commitment, although correlation between motivation and commitment was negative. No difference was observed in the perceived motivation of professional and non-professional library personnel. The findings also agreed with that certain motivational factors contribute to the prediction of job satisfaction. However, negative correlation between organizational commitment and work motivation as reported in this study may be a result of the fact librarians are not highly motivated by their deeply held values and beliefs regarding the development of a shared vision perceived motivation relates to job satisfaction and commitment.The study therefore Library management in all academic institutions should concentrate on improving the conditions for library personnel and highly cited an example of on-the-job training to cope with the integration of information technology into library practices.
