    The effect of peer pressure on academic performance of pupils in Kole District: a case study of Bala Sub-County

    The reach report entitled, "peer pressure and academic performance of pupils in Kole District, a case study of Bala sub-county was carried out by Mr. Angole James. Its objectives were: To examine the effects of drunkardness on academic performance of pupils in Kole district,To assess how smoking affects academic performance of pupils in Kole district, To find out how peer pressure affects the academic performance of pupils in Kole district and To find out how early pregnancies affects the academic performance of pupils in Kole district. A case study design was used. Data was collected from DEO, DIS, headteachers and teachers, pupils, parents, SMC, local leaders and local community. They were purposively randomly sampled. Teacher's questionnaire (TQ), interview guide(IG) for DEO and DIS and pupil's questionnaire (PQ) were used to collect data. Data were collected analyzed using percentage. The findings of the study showed that peer pressure affected academic performance significantly in Kole district. The findings of the study were significant to stakeholders in education on issues of peer influence that affects academic performance of pupils in the district. It is hoped that the study will equip the education stakeholders with information on how to enhance the academic performance of pupils in the district and the country at large.
