(Kampala International University, College of Education Open and Distance Learning, 2010-12) Jerotich, Barno Divina
Economic development of any society depends on how educated that society is. Poverty has been a hindrance to successful education among the rural poor. The existence of relevant support mechanisms throughout the history of teaching has been a key factor in enhancing the aspect of academic fulfillment among the most vulnerable in the society. The research work attempted at achieving the major goal of understanding the relevant concepts that link poverty and academic performance in schools. The notion of poverty and its long term effects on how a pupil perform formed the major starting point in this research. The analysis further states that certain inferences support pupil educational achievements as analyzed in chapter four. Tables and other tabulations were analyzed carefully and then conclusions were drawn as appropriate. In conclusion, the research has established key features that if adopted then it is possible that school going pupils can be able to achieve their desired academic goals. This has been summarily discussed in the last chapter of this project.
