    Factors Responsible for Drop Out of Girls/Child from School In Kihuura Subcounty, Kyenjojo District In Western Uganda.

    The study focused on factors responsible dropout of girls from schools of Kihuura sub county Kyenjojo district. This study was based on three objectives hat is to find out how poverty, parents’ attitudes and school environment affect the girl child dropout from school. The study employed a cross-sectional survey with 234 respondents selected by simple random sampling. The schools were randomly selected from others and respondents were randomly selected. Informants were purposively selected from teachers, parents and students. Qualitative and quantitative methods of data collection were used. Data were coded, cleared and entered using EPI-DATA and exported to SPSS for analysis. About 55.56% of the respondents were male and 44.44% being females, the majority of the respondents were at least literate of about 70%. In conclusion therefore, the primary causes of girl child dropout from school in Kihuura sub county schools are poverty and negative attitude of parents towards girl child education. The study therefore recommends that stakeholders should work hard to throw more light about the importance of girl child education to the parents provision of scholarships to the less privileged girl children should also be extended and finally the schools should be availed with a conducive environment that favors girl child life styles.
