    The impact of hearing impairment and performance of pupils in selected primary schools in Nawanyago Sub-County-Kamuli District, Uganda

    The research was conducted to investigate the effects of hearing impainnent on children in regular classroom at Nawanyago Sub County. The research was conducted quantitatively and qualitatively from December 2008 to February 2009. The researcher used the questionnaire, interview and the observation methods to collect data. The data was further analyzed and summarized into tile pie charts. During the research it was found out that hearing impairment has a negative impact on the performance of children in regular classroom socially, economically and psychologically. At the end of the research, a number of recommendations were made. Chiefly among these was, the government should come in and support children with hearing impairment financially, and setting suitable policies to help them, parents to accept children with disabilities especially those with hearing impairment according to the research and avoid the issue of saying that they are caused by evil spirit.
