Specific Objectives of the study were: (1) To investigate the relationship between children living with single parents and poor performance, (2) Investigate the relationship between children living with single parents and emotional stress, (3) Investigate the relationship between children living with single parents and dropping out of school and (4) Investigate the relationship between children living with single parents and delinquent behavior. The methods used for data collection were questionnaires to the teachers and focus group discussions with the parents. The findings revealed that children from single parent families were likely to drop out of school, perform poorly in school, have emotional stress and involve in delinquent behaviors. The study recommended: that: The government and policy makers should take into consideration the problems of children living with single parents. The single parents should also be counseled on social needs of their children so that their academic work will not suffer at school. Children and their parents should be counseled together to help both the child and the parent.
