    Socio-economic influences on pupils academic performance in Ngonyek zone, trans-nzoia east disrict, Kenya.

    This study focused on the impact of socio-economic factors on academic performance of pupils in Trans-Nzoi East district, Kenya. A descriptive research design was adopted which enhanced the researcher to obtain a better understanding of the problem of socio-economic factors on academic performance of pupils. Questionnaires and interview guides were adopted in the collection of data after which such data had to processed, coded and analyzed. An interpretation was made and this had to be based on the findings from the field. The findings indicated that education and academic performance were adversely affected by different social economic factors such as food availability as well as proper nutrition. It was also reported that that poor nutrition leads to poor performance of pupils in class. Recommendations were made which called for government focus on nutritional and feeding programs in schools. And that the parents and the community be sensitized on the importance proper and stable family background and how they influence child development
