    Factors affecting Academic Performance of Students in Chemistry with in Selected Public Schools of Kaptama Division, Mt.Elgon District Kenya.

    This study was intended to investigate the causes of poor performance in chemistry among students in the selected secondwy schools of Kaptama Division, Mt.Elgon district, Kenya. In the review of related literature, all sources viewed relevant to the study were revisited and these assisted a great deal in assisting the research have a clear picture of what the study was to entail. A descriptive design was adopted for this particular study since it was realized that much of the study was about explaining a scenario. Questionnaires' and interview guides were adopted for this particular study. Data collected was sorted, coded and presented in tales and figure to convey a clear picture of the findings. The findings revealed that the materials were inadequate, and hence affected the performance students. It was therefore recommended that using student-centered teaching approaches and also, using meaningful activities in their classrooms could assist i promoting the academic performance of students in Chemistry.
