Recruitment practices and employee performance :
(Kampala International University, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, 2019-09) Kyagulanyi, George
The study aimed at investigating the relationship between recruitment practices and employee performance in Nice House of Plastics (NHP), Kampala-uganda as the study case. The study employed a case study design to collect data from a sample of 63 respondents working with NHP. Simple random sampling technique was used in selecting the sample and Questionnaire was the main instrument of data collection. The data obtained was analyzed using quantitative data analysis techniques such as frequencies and percentages cross tabulations and verbatim explanations where appropriate. The study findings revealed that, a comprehensive selection and recruitment policy allows all of the departmental managers to get involved in developing the guidelines for selecting new candidates. This meant that, managers can also assist in determining experience and educational needs for each new position to make sure that appropriate candidates are recruited. From the study findings, the study concludes that, recruitment and selection are vital functions of human resource management for any type of business organization as they involve a set of activities an organization uses to attract job candidates who have the needed abilities and attitudes. The study however recommends that, NHP should hire recruitment and selection consultants to guide their team on how effective it should best be done for the organization to benefit much from it, and conduct training for its selection and recruitment officers for them to gain more knowledge and skills for the betterment of the organization.
