    Challenges faced by private radio stations in Uganda: a case study of Kasese Guide radio, Grace and Messiah radio, in Kasese District

    The study was carried on Kasese Guide Radio, Messiah and Grace Radio found in Kasese District. In Western Uganda boarding the Democratic Republic of Congo. The General objectives of the study was to identify challenges faced by private Radio Stations in Kasese District. A case study of Kasese Guide Radio, Messiah and Grace Radio. To identify the contributions of these private radio stations to the social, political and economic development of Uganda. To find possible solutions to these challenges. Not all the staff of these Radio stations were legible to be interviewed for the study unstructured interview and 6 respondents were able to give the rightful information. The study revealed that 75% of the challenges are caused by restrictions by government, high licenses, registration fees, restrictive laws of defamation, criminalizing of other acts like sedition and libel. 20% is a result of unqualified staff. Owners' influence of the content to be broadcasted. Stiff competition with other radio stations for listenership like voice of Taro, Kinkizi FM, Radio West, Kampala Radio, Capital etc.
