- ItemParent’s divorce and students’ retention in secondary schools in Endarasha Division, Nyeri County, Kenya(Kampala International University, College Of Education, Open,Distance And E-Learning, 2012-05) Mburu, Lucy WanjikuABSTRACT The study was intended to determine the relationship between parent’s divorce and students’ retention in secondary schools in Endarasha Division, Nyeri County, Kenya. It was guided by objectives that included; investigating the relationship between Parents Divorce and students’ retention in secondary schools, finding out how parent’s divorce has affected students education in secondary school and finding out what can school counselors do to assist students who are struggling academically, personally, and socially as a result of a family in divorce transition. This study used a descriptive cross sectional survey. The research drew from both the qualitative and quantitative analysis approaches in order to get a bigger picture both in number and data. Questionnaires and interview guides were used in the collection of data. From the findings of the study, the following were revealed that teaching learning aids were impacting on the learning environment. And it was therefore concluded sociological research on the effect of parental divorce on their children is restricted to aspects of the well-being of these children educational performance, health, marital and relational behaviors both at home and school. It was recommended that the government must therefore continue to invest heavily and sustain FPE in order to provide an all inclusive education and training to all Kenyans irrespective of their region of origin, income status, gender, religion and any other disparities, It must invest in people by expanding access to schooling, targeting the neediest and providing safety nets for the working poor, those unable to work and special vulnerable and marginalized groups.
