    Incentives and employee commitment in selected Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in Juba, South Sudan

    The purpose of this research study was to investigate the effect of incentive on employee commitment in selected non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Juba, South Sudan. The study was motivated by the need to identify factor that propel employee commitment in NGOs in Juba, South Sudan. The specific objectives of the study were to establish the effect of financial and non-financial incentives on employee commitment in selected NGOs in Juba South Sudan. The study adopted descriptive cross-sectional research design. A sample of 180 respondents was selected from 330 target population. The study descriptive statistic, Pearson’s linear correction coefficient, and regression model in analyses of data collected through questionnaire. The results of qualitative analyses using frequency counts and percentage distributions, means and standard deviations show that majority of the respondents were males (58.9%); majority (26.1%) of the respondents had diploma level education; and that the majority of respondents (26.83 %) have between 5-7years experience. Results of the Pearson’s Linear Correlation Coefficient (0.71) revealed that a strong positive linear relationship exists between incentive (financial and non-financial) and employee commitment of selected NGOs in Juba, South Sudan. Estimates from the regression model show that financial incentive has positive and significant effect on employee commitment of selected NGOs in Juba, South Sudan. The results further show that financial incentive has positive and significant effect on employee commitment of selected NGOs in Juba, South Sudan The findings of this study indicate that incentive has positive and significant effect on employee commitment of selected NGOs in Juba, South Sudan. The study therefore concludes that financial incentives are effective ways of influencing employee commitment in the NGOs in Juba South Sudan. The study recommends, among others, that Human Resource Departments of NGOs in Juba South Sudan should ensure that employees are rewarded both in terms of financial and non-financial rewards. The management of the NGOs should also ensure that there is adequate budget provision to cover employee incentive. This study has contributed to improving our understanding of the contributions of both financial and non-financial incentives on employee commitment in South Sudan.
